“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.”

~ Joseph Campbell ~

So I guess I’ve been under a rock or something, and I must be the only one not intimately familiar with Joseph Campbell’s work. But thanks to OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, Super Soul Sunday and Mastin Kipp from TheDailyLove.com, I am now a spiritual FAN of his work and really look forward to getting my hands on all things Joseph Campbell. Any suggestion.

Joseph John Campbell was an American mythologist, writer and lecturer, best known for his work in comparative mythology and comparative religion. His work is vast, covering many aspects of the human experience. His philosophy is often summarized by his phrase: “Follow your bliss.” [Source: Wikipedia.org]

So although I am just starting to unpack and immerse myself in “Joseph Campbell” wisdom, here are a few quotes that are absolute life-changers. Enjoy and share any Campbell quotes you love in the comments section below.

Joseph Campbell Quotes

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”

“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”

“If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it’s not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That’s why it’s your path.”

“Your sacred space is where you can find yourself over and over again.”

“Find a place inside where there’s joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.”

“The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure ”

“I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.”

What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

Greetings!

Oprah’s quote is a necessary and timely reminder that energy flows where our attention goes. What we focus on (good, bad or otherwise) expands. Our attention is energy, the nourishment we give today that determines what we manifest tomorrow.

So if you want to keep getting what you’re getting, keep doing what you’re doing. But if you want something different in the future, tomorrow’s blessings require a change in focus today!

It’s so easy (too easy, actually) to focus on what we believe we don’t have or what we fear we can’t do. Continue reading
